The Building has four underground levels with more than 1,200 parking lots and supermarket. There are
four above ground levels with 124 retail units, cinema complex and food court area.
Specific Features and Used Technologies
The Building has several specific features which contribute to building’s unique and distinguished overall
image.
The main entrance area at the corner of Bulgaria blvd and Todor Kableshkov blvd combines animated
water leaping fountain, double skin glazed façade with built-in advertisement and 460 dynamic LED
digitally controlled lighting fixtures. The front image has been completed by 3.5 meters high and 50
meters long “Bulgaria Mall” stainless steel LED illuminated building letters along Todor Kableshkov blvd.
The interior of the building has unique atrium void with 36 meters overall high from lowest to highest
point. The atrium is covered by 1,800 square meters glazed skylight giving special feeling of natural
space. The south terrace has a clear near view to Vitosha Mountain.
The void at each level finishes with bulkhead architectural features again LED illuminated. The bulkhead
panels are made of glass reinforced gypsum (GRG) designed and produced in the UK exclusively for
Bulgaria Mall. Each panel has different shape and has been casted in custom made moulds which allow
pinpoint accurate execution of the designed curves. The combination of such material and technology
hasn’t been previously applied to similar projects in Bulgaria.
The power supply is provided by two separate independent 20 kVA power sources as well as built in 100
kVA power substation.
The basement levels use jet ventilators for pollution control, ventilation and smoke control. The fresh air
supply to the shops is provided by energy saving thermodynamic heat recovery system never used in
shopping malls in Bulgaria before. The mall passage HVAC is provided by water cooled rooftop system.
The building has BREEAM certification for environmental performance.
